Marks & Spencer Makes Its London Fashion Week Debut — With See-Now, Buy-Now

A high-street first
Marks & Spencer will take to a London Fashion Week catwalk for the first time on Friday 18 September at the Design Museum in Kensington, showing womenswear and menswear as the retailer marks a century in fashion.
The house has said the show will draw on Collection, Per Una and Autograph, reworking familiar codes rather than inventing a luxury alter ego.
Buy what you see
Unlike most runway houses, M&S is running a see-now, buy-now model. Guests will be able to purchase from 12.30pm through the website and major stores. A streamed replay is planned for 6.30pm so a wider audience can shop the same looks.
The format, used by Burberry in 2016, is a statement of confidence: the clothes on the catwalk are intended to be worn this season, not in six months.
Why London is watching
M&S already leads some public style-credential polls. A Fashion Week slot tests whether that goodwill can look directional under lights. If the show works, the high street will have a new template. If it does not, the week still keeps its luxury core. Either way, Friday noon is now a date on the official calendar.
