If there was any doubt that heritage is back, Daniel Lee’s Winter 2025 collection for Burberry has silenced it. Unveiled last night at a star-studded gala at the Tate Modern, the show marked a definitive shift away from streetwear and back to the aristocracy-infused roots of British luxury—but with a modern, sustainable twist.

Dubbed "The New Estate," the collection leans heavily into what fashion insiders are calling the "Country House" aesthetic. We saw oversized trench coats reimagined in deep hunter greens and oxblood wools, paired surprisingly with sheer, metallic knitwear that added a futuristic edge to the traditional silhouettes. The standout piece—a floor-length shearling cape widely tipped to be the "it" item of 2026—was paired with knee-high equestrian boots made entirely from Mylo, a mushroom-based leather alternative.

"It’s about honoring the fabric of British history while acknowledging the fabric of our future," Lee told Duchess backstage. The front row was packed with UK icons, including Florence Pugh and Stormzy, both dressed in the brand’s new signature tartan.

Retailers are already scrambling to stock the look. Selfridges reported a 400% spike in searches for "heritage check" and "waxed jackets" overnight. For the Duchess reader, this trend signals a move towards investment dressing: buying high-quality, durable pieces that look as at home in a Cotswolds gastro-pub as they do on Bond Street. This winter, true luxury is looking less like a logo and more like a legacy.
