A gun-carriage procession through Oslo
Prince William joined the walking procession for King Harald V of Norway on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The coffin travelled on a gun carriage from the Royal Palace to Oslo Cathedral. William walked near the Princess Royal among foreign royals.
Harald died on August 28 at 89. He was Europe’s oldest monarch and King Charles’s second cousin once removed. Charles called him a “dear cousin” and “much-loved kinsman and friend” after the death was announced.
William as the King’s representative
Buckingham Palace said William attended on behalf of the King. Queen Sonja placed a rose on the coffin. Other foreign guests included Ukraine’s president.
William returned to Britain the next day for the Everton engagement in Liverpool.
